Smart TV slow and apps stuttering? How to speed it up
A slow Smart TV usually means full storage, outdated apps or weak Wi-Fi. Most of it can be improved in a quarter of an hour without spending money.
- Most common cause
- full storage and outdated apps
- Time
- 15–30 minutes
- Alternative
- Smart TV stick for 200–540 zł
A factory reset removes apps, signed-in accounts and channel settings. Do it last and have your account passwords ready.
Step by step
Unplug the TV
Switching off with the remote often just puts the TV to sleep. Unplug it for 2–3 minutes. This clears the system cache.
Update the system and apps
In settings find software update and app updates. Newer versions often run faster.
Remove unused apps
Every app takes up storage. Remove the ones you don't use.
Clear app data
In the app settings (e.g. YouTube) clear the cache. If that doesn't help, clear the data and sign in again.
Check the internet
Stuttering video is often weak Wi-Fi. Move the router closer, connect the TV with a LAN cable or test the speed in the browser.
Warning: factory reset
Warning: a reset removes apps, accounts and settings. Do it when nothing else helps. The path depends on the brand, usually Settings → General or Support → Reset.
- the TV restarts by itself or freezes on the logo
- the menu is slow even after a factory reset
- the TV no longer gets updates

Why is my Smart TV getting slower?
Apps grow with every version and the TV's storage fills up. An older processor simply can't keep up.
Will resetting the TV help?
Often yes, but it removes apps and settings. Do it last.
Is a Smart TV stick worth buying?
For an older TV, yes. It costs less than a repair and the apps run smoothly.
