Smartwatch not connecting or no notifications? Step by step
Most smartwatch problems are phone settings: battery saving, app permissions or focus mode. These steps solve them without a repair shop.

Unpairing and resetting the watch may delete data on the watch, e.g. watch faces and workouts that haven't synced to the phone. Sync the watch with the app first.
Step by step
Check Bluetooth and the app
Turn on Bluetooth on the phone and open the watch app (e.g. Watch, Galaxy Wearable, Garmin Connect). The app must run in the background.
Turn off battery saving for the app
On Android go to the watch app settings and set battery usage to “unrestricted”. Power saving kills the background connection.
Check notification permissions
On the phone allow the watch app to access notifications. In the watch app choose which apps should show notifications.
Turn off focus and do not disturb
Night, focus or do-not-disturb mode on the phone or watch silences notifications. Turn them off as a test.
Turn on raise-to-wake
In the watch display settings turn on waking the screen when you raise your wrist. Also check the watch's power saving mode isn't on.
Restart both devices
Turn the phone and watch off and on again. This is often enough after a system update.
Warning: unpair and pair again
Warning: unpairing may delete data from the watch. Sync it first. Then remove the watch in the app, reset it and pair it from scratch.
