Fridge beeping? Door-open and high-temperature alarms explained
A beeping fridge is most often a door-open alarm or a high-temperature alarm after a power cut. You can usually silence it yourself.
- Most common cause
- door not fully closed or high temperature
- Time
- 5–10 minutes
- Service, if nothing helps
- 200–610 zł
If the alarm shows high temperature and the power was not cut, check the food before eating it. If the temperature was high for more than a few hours, throw away perishable products such as meat, fish and dairy. Do not cut the power to a fully loaded fridge unless you need to.
Step by step
Check the fridge and freezer doors
Push them fully shut and check that nothing is blocking them, such as a drawer, a bottle or a folded seal. The beeping usually stops 1–2 minutes after the door closes.
Silence the alarm
Press the Alarm Off or Mute button (often with a bell icon). The exact button is in the manual under “alarm”.
Wait after a power cut
If the high-temperature alarm is on after a power cut, wait a few hours. The alarm will go off once the fridge cools down.
Do not put in warm food
Let pots cool before you put them in. Also do not open the door too often, because the temperature will not have time to drop.
Check the seal and how the fridge stands
Wipe the seal with warm water and check that the fridge stands level. A tilted fridge may not close its door properly.
Unplug it for 5 minutes
Pull the plug for 5 minutes and plug it back in. If the alarm comes back, the temperature sensor or the electronics may be faulty.
- The alarm returns even with the doors closed and the right temperature set.
- An error code shows and the fridge does not cool.
- The door sensor does not respond, and the light inside does not go out when you close the door.
- The fridge runs loudly non-stop and the food is warm.

Why does my fridge beep even though the doors are closed?
The door may not be closing fully, the seal may be folded, or the door sensor may be damaged. Push the door shut and wipe the seal.
What does a high-temperature alarm after a power cut mean?
The inside has warmed up. The alarm will go off after it cools down, usually in a few hours. Also check the condition of the food.
How do I stop the beeping?
Press Alarm Off or Mute on the panel. If there is no such button, close the door and wait.
